Our goal is to provide thorough knowledge transfer, and we accomplish this with the highest caliber of both materials and people trained in their delivery. Over the last decade, TSD has played a central role creating and teaching the latest developments in lean, and our materials reflect this fact. For years, our courseware was the standard in lean instruction for the Society of Manufacturing Engineers (SME), and we served as lean content experts for SME’s on-line lean education program. Since then, our materials have been used by thousands and now they are incorporated into the lean-CPI education and training standards for the U.S. Air Force. As an added feature, we offer most of our courses in train-the-trainer versions. While it requires additional material and coaching time, it transfers deeper subject matter understanding, to prepare participants to teach the course to others.

We are distinguished from our competitors by the caliber of the people that teach our courses. TSD operates with a dedicated and highly qualified corps of lean systems experts and change management specialists, most with at least 12 years lean experience. Many have significant first-hand employment experience with Toyota Motor Corporation in the Toyota Production System, the very source of those lean principles that serve as the basis of our many services. By way of example, John Allen (TSD's president) was the former Director for Training at Toyota's Georgetown, Kentucky facility. And our people are not only practitioners of lean, but lecturers and writers on the principles of lean for organizations like the U.S. Air Force and SME. In fact, TSD, through the collective efforts of its people, authored a 500-page SME-published reference book, Lean Manufacturing: A Plant Floor Guide.
